What Attracts Beetles?

Beetles have various attractants to many homes, some species like stored grains and packaged foods, while others are content with feeding on plants, wood, and fabric materials. Also, in colder winter months you may find beetles trying to find their way into your house in order to stay warmer and survive the winter months. Seeing a few beetles should never be of concern, however if you start seeing large groups clustering together, with 20-30 or more within site then you might have an infestation nearby that is worth looking into.

How Do We Remove Them?

One of the pest management experts at McMahon Exterminating will visit your home and provide a proper assessment and ID the bugs that are infesting your home or property to better understand the type of insects or pests that they are dealing with to properly coordinate a plan that will work best for you.

We help educate the customer on things that they might be able to do to help deter the pests as well, and will try to prevent this from becoming a reocurring infestation.

The treatment will begin and we will monitor the situtaion closely to make sure that the numbers are being depleted in the area. We want to try to deter the insects from coming to your area as opposed to just chemically treating them, as that will only be a short term solution for you.

Home Remedy Tips For Detering and Removing These Pests

  • Some beetles can literally be "swept" up by a vacuum and dealt with, depending on the type of beetle.
  • Make sure not to store too much dry food in easy accessible places to the outdoors, and keep it away from moist wood as moisture can attract beetles as well.
  • Several types of beetles are attracted to lights at night, so make sure strucutres are fully sealed from the outdoors, especially near outdoor lighting sources.
